What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement (BHRT)?
This treatment is a common practice to help women cope with aging for decades. Female hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may help women who are suffering from unbalanced hormones. When hormones are out of balance, HRT can relieve a wide array of different symptoms both physical and emotional.
Hormone replacement therapy can be used as creams, patches, pills, or pellets. Bioidentical pellet hormones (different from synthetic) closely resemble the molecular structure of human hormones.
The BioTe method of hormone therapy provides a consistent release of hormones in the bloodstream. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy aims to treat the source of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Who is a candidate for bioidentical hormone pellet therapy?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women may help any woman whose hormones are out of balance. However, the most common time women seek bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is when they’re experiencing menopause.
There are three stages of menopause—perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. There are also rare instances regarding women who have never had balanced hormones, often causing excessively uncomfortable menstrual cycles and extreme mood swings. The BioTE method of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women may help treat the cause of these issues.
What are female BHRT pellets?
Female BHRT pellets are comprised of custom-compounded hormones. These pellets are inserted subcutaneously during a quick in-office visit. Usually, within four to six weeks after the pellet insertion, the bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for a woman’s endocrine system begins to take effect and BioTE providers’ patients may begin to experience the benefits of the BioTE method.
How does it work?
Initial labs are drawn to assess a women’s current hormone and menopause status. The labs are evaluated by your provider and reviewed at the next office visit. The BioTe method uses a personalized approach to determine a person’s initial dosage of testosterone and/or testosterone and estrogen based on age, weight, symptoms, health history, and lab work. The pellets are inserted under the skin in the fatty tissue of the upper buttocks. This treatment has minor discomfort associated with the numbing injection prior to the procedure.
What happens after the treatment?
After the treatment heavy exercising (running, biking, and squats) and submerging in water (pools, ocean, hot tubs) should be avoided for 3-5 days. The effects of the hormones can be noticed approximately 2-4 weeks after treatment.
What are the possible side effects?
Possible side effects include bruising, infection, skin reaction, and pellet extrusion (rare). Increased hair growth is common and acne-prone patients may have acne flare-ups.
